Week 12 Using other Social Media Tools

Social Media Coupons such as Groupon and LivingSocial

I have considered using coupon social media tools for yoga events such as retreats when the event deadlines have loomed neared and the event had yet to break even.  Typically there is a last minute flurry of attendee registrations and I have yet to employ the social media coupon tool.  I do understand from people who have used it that they have not been very happy with the results due to the high cost.  It is something I would like to research in greater depth and run some numbers on to determine if it would be a good back-up strategy should registrations ever appear to be running below the break-even level.

LinkedIn

I joined LinkedIn a number of years ago in order to be able to register for Airbnb and have not used it since.  I do see regular connection suggestions in my personal email in box and notice that they frequently correspond with real life networking connections made in person.  After reading chapter 12, I've learned that LinkedIn can be linked to my Twitter account which I think could be a good strategy to try to increase Twitter conversations.  I might also explore  LinkedIn Groups for networking.

Google Maps

While I don't have one fixed location for my yoga business, I do have a fixed location for an upcoming retreat center I have been working to create.  This will absolutely be a social media tool that I use to help with SEO for that business.

Google Plus

When we did the two different assignment where we reviewed the social media tools and posts of other businesses, Google Plus did not appear to be gaining businesses much in the way of additional followers and hence potential clients.  I have since learned that joining Google Plus as a business may help with SEO and may provide another opportunity to network with like minded community groups. I do plan to join Google Plus for my yoga business to increase SEO.

Yelp

Is something I have been meaning to explore.  I understand that a yoga specialist such as myself can enhance SEO and possibly match up with target markets by presenting a specialty such as in home prenatal yoga on Yelp.  Increasing awareness of the specialized yoga therapies I provide is in-line with my marketing strategy and although it strikes me as a bit unconventional it is a marketing technique I will explore further to see if it might be a good fit.
