Week 12 Post B

Linkedin
Prior to this week’s assignments, I was not aware that Linkedin had groups and in fact had not been on linkedin since I originally joined as a requirement to use Airbnb a number of years ago.  There seems to be an active network of professional groups, several of which I have requested to join.

Google+
Google+ is chaotic for me, searching for groups returns broad results, it does not seem like a good fit for a networking tool for me.  It seems entertainment oriented, suggesting groups such as NFL, WWE, Justin Bieber…  I did do a search for Yoga for MS since I teach Yoga for MS and find that networking groups are limited and often have few participants.  Despite the Yoga for MS Google+ group only having 24 participants I elected to “Follow” the group, I was immediately notified that my network will be notified that I am following said group.  I would prefer that kind of notification to be optional.
I tried to discover how to create a Google+ page for my business without any success.  The textbooks, Google help, nor Google searches provided sufficient information for me to create a new page for my business.
I was able to create events within Google+ but it was not through a business page since I was not able to set one up.
Here are the links to the event pages I created:

Yelp
Until this assignment, I had not set up a business Yelp account.  As of today, I have one.  Here is the link:

I do not have any Yelp reviews since the account is brand new.  Yelp reviews absolutely impact business.  I have used Yelp reviews myself when looking for accommodations and dining establishments and have also written reviews. I suspect that having a Yelp business account and adding keywords to the photos and the business description will help with SEO.
