Week 2
To
me it seems that Facebook is geared equally to both personal and
business use. Many people including myself maintain a personal timeline
and business page or pages, and FB has well developed advertising
options.
I know many people use Instagram for business, to me
that seems to be a way to generate new interest and perhaps new
"followers" will turn into customers or clients. I think that Instagram
serves as a quick visual reminder for 'your' audience. I found that my
Instagram account could only be linked to my personal FB account and
not my business account which leads me to believe the original intent of
Instagram was more personal social engagement and picture sharing.
Instagram posts shared over to Twitter do not convey the post image
which is a draw back for business as it takes a little more time to
create a separate tweet with photo.
I think that email newsletters
are geared 100% towards business and keeping 'your' audience engaged
while delivering content or directing them to content. Newsletters
take more time, planning and organization to execute well. Options such
as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook can be used in the interim between
newsletters to maintain audience engagement.
I personally haven't
had much engagement with my Twitter feed so I don't think it is a great
platform for business for me and I have not ventured into the realm of
Snapchat.

Laura, I agree that Twitter seems to lack engagement. I was on Facebook very early on but by the time I got on Twitter I think the rush had passed and all the young people moved on to Instagram or other options.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI like that you pointed out that instagram is a great reminder and a way to reach out to find new followers for your business. Like a portfolio for people to stop by and check out whats going on with the business. Now that facebook and instagram are working together they give options to share content cohesively making it easier to market yourself to new audiences.

Mike F.
I wasn't aware of the ability to link Facebook and Instagram accounts. Probably because I don't have either, but I think that's a great way to merge two separate platforms together. It provides more advertisement opportunities. I suppose that ultimately, it depends on the users preferred way of promotion and being able to find which form suits them better.
